Culture and Education

How our scholarships benefit kids

Over the past 12 years, LRFA was able to provide more than $300,000 in grants and scholarships to help promote Baltic culture and education. We are honored to be able to help our members experience these great opportunities to learn more about Baltic history and traditions. Your donations to the LRFA Scholarship Fund help make this possible. Support future generations with your gift. Donations are tax-deductible. Thank you!

Examples of eligible programs

1. Baltic summer camps and educational programs:

2. “Sveika, Latvija” and “Heritage Latvia” cultural trips:

We support our members enrolling in the “Sveika, Latvija” 2-week summer educational tours for teens, adults and families. These trips are organized by the American Latvian Association.

3. Other cultural experiences:

LRFA members may also apply for scholarship assistance to attend other cultural experiences, meetings, and events. Examples include annual ALA/ALJA Kongress participation, Latvian language education at colleges and universities, etc. LRFA has also helped folk dance groups from the US participate in festivals in Latvia and Canada.

Scholarship Applications

Each year, LRFA members can apply for financial assistance for Baltic education and cultural programs. If the applicant is under 18, both the child and parent need to be LRFA members for at least 1 year prior to application, in order to be eligible for these scholarships. As of 2024, all applications must be received no later than May 1st to be considered. Each member may only apply for one scholarship per year.
